William J. Clarke
William J. Clarke died on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the age of 89.
Bill was born on February 15, 1932, in Utica, New York to Bernard and Eleanor Clarke. He joined the army and served during the Korean War. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Syracuse University, New York. He attended the Episcopal Church in Lompoc, for several years.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Michael W. Clarke and Gene B. Clarke, and four daughters, Carla J. Sheridan, Rebecca L. Harris, Christine M. Clarke and Cynthia D. Herendeen.
Bill moved to California from New York in 1966. He was the Dean of Admissions at UCLA School of Social Work. He helped to create Day Treatment Facilities in Santa Barbara County. Then moved to L.A. and worked at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, as the Director of Social Services. He also helped people through his private practice. Bill wrote editorials for the Lompoc News Paper and was an advocate for social justice. He loved to sing, read, spend time with his children and help people.
