Obituary of Mary Antonia Sarceno

On Monday, December fifth, Mary Antonia Sarceno, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 79. She was born in Whittier, CA to Bernave and Cruz Loza.

Mary grew up in a large and loving family with three brothers and nine sisters. Mary lost her dad when she was eight years old. This impacted the family greatly.

At 16, Mary left school to help contribute to the family. Mary learned to sew at a young age and made most of her clothes. She became a master seamstress and worked for Simmons and Sealy mattress companies. Over the years, Mary worked at several different places including Wham-O toy company and Buxton Belt.

At 19, Mary married Ken Rodriguez. They were married 21 years before divorcing. She had three children: Mickey (changed from Yvonne), Vincent and Phillip. In 1984, Mary married Jose Sarceno and they enjoyed 38 wonderful years together before her passing.

Mary had a bubbly personality and enjoyed talking with everyone she met. She also enjoyed sewing, dancing and re-modeling her home. One of the many highlights of her life was dancing with Ritchie Valens at a school concert.

Mary is reunited in Heaven with her parents Bernave and Cruz, siblings Ramon, Frankie, Richard, Dolores, Jennie, Josie, Nellie, Lucy, son-in-law Damian and granddaughter Tabitha.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Jose, brothers John(Frances), Peter, sisters Angie, Lupe, Pauline, Rita, brothers-in-law Beto, Rene(Dora), Frank, Manuel, sisters-in-law Francesca and Dorothy. Children Mickey, Vincent(Stephanie) and Phillip(Vicki). Grandchildren Sara(Benji), Amber(Willie), Tracy, Justin(Katie), Derek, Spencer, Jason and Abby. Great grandchildren Tobias, Cadence, Bentley, Micah, Maddison, Abby, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary requested no services be held. Interment will be at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, Gridley, CA.
