Obituary of Frank James Vose

Frank James Vose, age 94, of Cohasset California, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Frank was born December 4, 1928 in Fiddletown California to parents Frank Charles Vose and Vella Virginia Brockman Vose. He had 2 sisters, Barbara Lorraine Roden, Ruth Ann Hemingsen and 1 brother David Charles Vose.


Frank joined the Army in 1946. When he got out of the Army he moved to Cohasset where he met Darlene Louise Rogers at a dance. They married August 22, 1950. Frank and Darlene were Baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1958.


Together they had 5 children, Frank Robert Vose, Linda Lorraine Hardesty, Virginia (Ginny) Marlene Urquhart, Rebecca Jeanne Hedlind and Daisy Louise Emerson. They had 13 Grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grand daughter. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene, his sister Barbara, son Frank and one grandson.


Frank and Darlene started “Voses Secondhand and Antiques Store” in Cohasset in 1966. Some say this put Cohasset on the map. Frank loved buying old furniture and refinishing it. People came from far and wide to find these treasures. During this time they bought many old cars and trucks. Mostly he loved Dodges and Desotos. Another favorite thing to do was hunt. He would get a buck every year in his younger days.

He had many animals over the years including cattle, horses, goats, pigs, and varieties of birds from Emus, chickens, peacocks, pigeons, and pheasants from around the world. Always had a dog named “Buster”. Frank loved life and family, especially if they like to play cards, which was one of his favorite things to do. He always loved a good piece of cake. Frank read his Bible daily. He loved to share what he learned with others, even doing this up to a couple days before he passed.

A memorial service will be held on May 21, 2023. 4:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses- 10 Honey Run Road, Chico California 95928
