Obituary of James Douglas Smalley

James D. Smalley of Red Bluff, California died on February 26, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. He grew up in Ohio, and graduated from Northmont High School in Englewood, Ohio. He was a contractor in that state, as well as in Arkansas, before founding Smalley Construction Co. in Red Bluff. James is survived by his wife, Nancy; and four children, Ted (Tiffiny) of Houston, Texas, Brian (Lisa) of Red Bluff, Matthew (Jen) of Park Hills, Kentucky and Chelsey (Cade) of Redding, California; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Marjorie of Miamisburg, Ohio, and three siblings, Larry (Kathleen) of Sugarland, Texas, Harriett (Jim) of Centerville, Ohio and Dennis (Renee) of Batavia, Illinois. A celebration in James' honor will be held at 2:00 p.m., March 1, 2008 at the Elks Lodge #1250 in Red Bluff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice in care of Affordable Mortuary, 587 Country Drive, Chico, CA 95928, who are handling the arrangements.
