Obituary of Douglas Steven Gandel

A memorial service for Douglas Steven Gandel, 61, of Chico, CA, will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010, 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at the California Veterans Home in Yountville, CA. Douglas passed away on December 31, 2009 in San Jose, CA. He was born on August 9, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN to Avrum and Joyce Gandel. Douglas enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Airborne Division, Company C 3rd 506th from 1967 until 1968. He was an 101st Airborne Distinguished Honor Graduate and served as Guardian on the Honor Flight for WWII Veterans. Douglas worked for twenty years as a maintenance mechanic for California Paperboard. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Laurie Gandel and son, Douglas Gandel, Jr., both of Chico; his father, Avrum of Yountville, CA and mother, Joyce of Minneapolis, MN.
