Obituary of Gene Franklin Ingram

Gene F. Ingram died on January 12, 2009 in Chico, CA at age 67. He was born August 14, 1941 in Erie, PA. Gene arrived in Chico with his adoptive parents, Alice Mae and Frank Ingram, who established Ingram Realty after moving to Chico from Everett, WA in 1957. Gene graduated from Chico High School in 1959. He then obtained a BA in economics and an MBA from Chico State, and served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Gene spent most of his career as a commodities broker. He was a grain trader with General Mills, living in Utah, Kansas, and California, and in the early 1970's formed a commodities brokerage, Ingram & Associates, serving as principal of the company until his death. He also taught courses in agricultural economics at Chico State. Gene was always active in a variety of sports, including football, water and snow skiing, tennis, basketball, softball, Frisbee, and more recently cycling, walking and driving his TR6. He and friends once built and raced a stock car. Those who knew him appreciated his uniqueness, intellect, humor, outlandishness, candor and intense interest and concern for the future of the world. The family suggests that any memorial donations be made to a charity of personal choice, c/o Affordable Mortuary, 587 Country Drive, Chico 95928. A private family gathering is planned at a later date.
