Obituary of David Lee Hanley

DAVID LEE HANLEY David Lee Hanley was born on March 22, 1951 in Merced, California to G.L. and Mary Hanley. He graduated from Merced High School in 1970 and Chico State in 1976. David taught Special Education for Butte County and Chico Unified School District, retiring in 2011. He liked being active and training for triathlons, mountain biking, hiking and kayaking. He was the most loyal and decent person anyone could meet. David leaves behind his best gifts, son DJ Hanley and daughter Mary Lee Hanley. Also his ‘brother’ Scott Borges, adopted mom Charlene Boone, sister and brother-in-laws, JoAnn and Jeff Boone, and Jana and Luigi Crizon. The love of his life, Patty Walters- Johnson and his life mate, Jim Howell, biking buddy Cy Weagle and best friends, Alison Bridges and Phil Elkins. Also the mother of his children, Jamie Eltzroth as well as many other friends (thank you Girl’s Club), nephews and nieces. With creatures as small as we, the universe is tolerable only thru love.
