Obituary of Jerry Eugene Walker

Jerry Eugene Walker, 70, died in Chico, CA, on May 24, 2009, while taking a walk on a beautiful Sunday morning. Jerry was born on January 24, 1939, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to Ruby and Dorothy Walker. Jerry spent his boyhood in McCloud, CA, and joined the U.S. Navy directly out of high school; he was proud to have served aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga in Japan. In 1965, he moved his family to Chico to work for Toledo Scale; he later owned Butte Scale, and more recently retired from Hobart Services. Jerry enjoyed fishing, golfing, hiking, gold panning, astronomy, tinkering with electronics, and searching for treasures with his metal detector. Jerry was an inventor, and was most recently working on creating an alternative energy source with magnets. He is survived by his daughters, Debra (Kelly) Nelson, Doreen (Allen) Sage, Deanna (Matt) Abrahamian, and Dorothy (Stewart) Mitchell; grandchildren, Addison, Christina, David, Collin, Angel, Jhon and Kyle; sisters, Eve White and Sharon Walker; brothers, Roland Walker and Edwin Walker; many nieces and nephews and many, many freinds. Family and friends are invited to celerate Jerry's life at a Memorial Service on Sunday, June 7, 2009, from 12-4 p.m. at 74 Cottage Avenue, Chico.
