Obituary of Dwayne Steven Lopes

Dwayne Steven Lopes

Resident of Chico

January 31, 1985 – October 23, 2023

Dwayne Lopes passed away unexpectantly on October 23,2023 in Chico, California.

Dwyne was born in San Leandro, California and grew up in Pleasanton/Livermore graduating from Dublin High School. He also attended Los Positas College and CSEB. He worked primarily in the hospitality industry as a server and bartender with a brief stint as an insurance agent.

He loved all music, Sinatra, Beetles, country, classic rock to rap. He played several instruments, clarinet, trumpet, keyboard and guitar. He probably enjoyed singing karaoke the most, center stage, microphone in hand. He would sing Because You’re Beautiful to his dog Marlie and she loved it, jumping on him and giving kisses.

Dwayne also loved sports, he played soccer, baseball and basketball as a child. Despite his size he played freshman football in high school but later switched to tennis earning his varsity letter. He was a lifelong fan of the Raiders, A’s and Warriors.

With a quick wit and easy smile, Dwayne could talk to anyone and made friends easily. He enjoyed hanging out with friends, having a good time and seeing them smile. He will be greatly missed by many.

Dwayne is survived by his mother, Hazel Lopes of Livermore, his twin brother, Daryl of Union City, grandmother, Lorraine Herman of Fremont, aunt and uncle, Debbie and Andy Toivala of Minnesota, aunt, Elizabeth Schmidt of Washington. His father, Edward Lopes preceded him in death.
