Sam Netto

Obituary of Sam F. Netto

Sam Netto was born at home to parents Sam and Tina Stillo Netto on September 3, 1936. He left us on November 1, 2023.

He attended Chico schools and graduated from Chico High School in 1954. He was well known by his friends in high school as "Joel Pepsi"

Sam became a father in 1959,1960 and again in 1963. He was a member of the teamsters local #137 for 30 years employed as a truck driver. He was well known in Oroville, while driving for Delta Lines and was affectionately known to everyone as "Delta Sam" Sam made deliveries to the Oroville Dam during its construction in the 1960's.

Sam was a member of the Chico Eagle's Club for 25 years and a member as well as former president of the Chico Parachuting Club.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed many trips with his son and best friend grant.

In 1981 Sam met his future wife, Martine Stillwell. They had the longest engagement in history and after 38 years together the two finally married in 2019.He and Martine spent many days and nights on the Sacramento River, fishing and enjoying their life together. Martine always said that Sam taught her to fish like a man!

Sam had a unique gift; he would purchase vehicles and boats in disrepair and bring them back to life. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many, many friends.

We would like to thank his friends and family for their outpouring of prayers, love and kind words. We would also like to thank Grant and Linda Netto for their tremendous help during this difficult time and a great big shout out to Ruby from Enloe Hospice for her kindness, compassion and professionalism. Thank you to Dr.Halabi and his nurse Hailey Vowels for excellent care for such a difficult patient. You went above and beyond and will never be forgotten.

The loss of Sam has left a major hole in our hearts and lives that can never be filled.
